Dangerous and reckless driving topped the complaints, received by Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) 582 texting platform.

LTA media liaison officer, Iliesa Sokia said: “We have received a lot of complaints about dangerous and reckless driving through text messages from the public.

“LTA has received almost 4000 complaints soon after the introduction of their 582 texting platform.

“When LTA receives text messages on dangerous and reckless driving which also allows public to text them the details, LTA warns and counsels the drivers concerned.”

“We receive about 80 to 90 complaints daily,” he said.

Mr Sokia said the LTA would try to solve the complaints within 48 hours of receiving the text and then they would give a feedback to the public on how they have solved the complaint.

Members of the public are encouraged to text complaints regarding LTA service, LTA officers’ behaviour and any defective vehicles including other road infringements especially dangerous driving and speeding.

Vodafone, Inkk and Digicel users can text their complaints free to 582.
