Women Gain More: Tanivula

The Telecom Fijiana 7s team arrived home yesterday after taking part in the Women Sevens Series in Dubai last week.
Despite finishing 7th in their campaign assistant coach Iliesa Tanivula was proud of what the players achieved.
“I am proud of how the girls performed,” Tanivula said.
“It was the first time we beat Canada and despite a few setbacks, the exposure was a big learning curve for the team.
“Chris Cracknell has really boosted the performance of the players and we have learned a lot.
“Even though Vaiti Waqatabu was ruled out early in the game, the players played well,” he said.
He said the girls would have a two-week break before they return to camp.
“As we approach Christmas we are going to be having a short break just for the girls to spend sometimes with their family before we begin training again.”
Tanivula said they would take part in the Coral Coast 7s.
“This is to get the girls ready for the second leg of the women series. By doing this will help build up the fitness and the momentum the girls were in before,” he added.
After being unbeaten in their three pool games, the side lost to France in the Cup quarterfinals 19-12 and later went down to New Zealand in the Plate semifinals 33-14.
