Digicel: No Special Licence Received To Complete SKY Pacific Acquisition

Digicel Fiji has clarified that it has not received a final Special Licence required to complete the acquisition of the Fiji Television subsidiary – SKY Pacific.
Digicel Fiji chief executive, Darren McLean, has however confirmed receiving documents from the Ministry of Communications.
The documents, he said, contains draft versions of the Special Conditions which need to be agreed to before proceeding.
“Digicel and the Ministry are working together closely to clarify the conditions in detail,” Mr McLean said.
“Also to ensure that the intended transaction is in the best interest of all parties including Government, Digicel, and SKY Pacific customers.”
Meanwhile, the Attorney-General and Minister for Communications, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, when asked about further details on this, referred all questions regarding this back to Digicel.
