The Fiji Junior Tribe will play Nauru Stars in the AFL Under -15 Oceania Cup final at Furnival Park today.

Oceania AFL development officer Ben Drew believes it will be a good match.

“The Nauru boys have been excellent in all their games, they played some really good, fast flowing footy,” Drew said.

“Fijians and Tongans have been really tough winning contests well but they need to focus on sharpening their skills.

“Just like any team back in Australia, it’s all about learning since it’s an exciting game.

“There are natural gifted players in the Pacific and it’s just a matter of understanding the game and executing it properly.”

AFL (Fiji) development officer Siteri Tadrau said they were working together with Fiji National Sports Commision to develop the sports next year.

“We want to thank FNSC for supporting us, our main aim is to increase the player-base next year.

“We aim to introduce the sport in villages around the country.”

Results: Nauru Stars won 7-6-48 to Tonga Thunder 2-3-15, Nauru  47-8 Fiji, Tonga Thunder 17-10 Fiji. The final is scheduled for 2pm today.
