More Wheels For Police From China

China yesterday gave additional help to Fiji.
This time for the Fiji Police Force to build resources.
China’s Ambassador to Fiji, Zang Ping handed-over a donation of 10 Police motorbikes to the Minister for Defence, National Security and Immigration, Timoci Natuva at the Police Special Response Unit, Makoi, Nasinu.
Mr Zang said they were happy with the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with the Fiji Police Force in 2011. He said the agreement allowed the training of some Fijian Police officers in China and also three from China on work attachment in Fiji.
He said China was ready to improve equipment for Fijian Police to lift the standard of service here.
The bikes are worth two million yuan (FJ$666,000).
Mr Natuva expressed Government and the Fiji Police Force’s sincere appreciation to the government of China. He said the Fiji Police Force is among organisations assisted by China.
Acting Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, thanked the Chinese Embassy for its continuous assistance in facilitating exchanges and bilateral assistances for Fiji Police under the MOU between the Fiji Police and China’s Ministry of Public Security in Beijing.
Police director traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police Mahesh Mishra said the assistance would help the Police Traffic Department.
“Two of the new motorbikes would be for the Western Division, five for Suva, Nausori and Sigatoka patrols and three for VIPs and other special assignments.
