The Fiji Rugby Union yesterday held a morning tea to thank the sponsors who supported the Vodafone Flying Fijians during their 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign.

Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee said it was an opportunity for him to thank everyone involved in helping the Flying Fijians financially, as they are important in the programmes set up for the players.

“It’s very pleasing for me personally to have this opportunity to express my gratitude, on behalf of the Flying Fijians to the companies and the individuals who really generously donated money to help with our campaign,” McKee said.

“Any success we achieved would not be possible without having a good budget to run the programmes we need in order to be competitive at the highest level.

“We’re really going places and proving things and the Flying Fijians will get better and better.”

Meanwhile, Vodafone Fiji chief marketing officer Rajnesh Prasad said it was fitting for the FRU to show their appreciation to the sponsors and that Vodafone will continue their sponsorship in future. “It’s really good that FRU has shown their appreciation to all the sponsors and those who helped and supported them in many ways during the World Cup,” Prasad said.

“With the next World Cup in Japan, we want to take the team to the next level. So we are really looking forward to seeing the team is moving in the right direction.”
