The five Fijian teams are aiming for a positive result at the three-day NEWNET Grasshoppers Festival which starts today.

Former national rep/Grasshopers Silver coach Seruwaia Vonolagi believes getting the young girls to play netball is good in the development of the sport.

“The Grasshoppers family is doing a great job,”the Nameka, Tailevu native said.

“I’m glad to be here and help develop these young girls, it’s like giving back to the community.

“There is no other club in Fiji that is doing this. I want to acknowledge the Grasshoppers netball family for assisting in the development of netball.”

Vonolagi said her team would not underestimate any team in the competition.

“We have teams from Australia and New Zealand and we will go in as underdogs.”

The festival starts today with a  movie night. Games begin tomorrow at the National Netball Centre.
