New acting Commissioner for Fiji Corrections Service Superintendent Kameli Ratuvakalevulevu is no stranger to the post.

“It is not new to me as I had acted when Mr Ifereimi Vasu was away overseas,” he said.

Yesterday Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, as Chair of the Constitutional Offices Commission, advised the President, Major General (Ret’d)Jioji Konrote for the immediate revocation of the appointment of Colonel Ifereimi Vasu as Commissioner.

He also recommended the name of senior officer Mr Ratuvakalevulevu, 53, to the President for appointment as Acting Commissioner for Fiji Corrections Service.

Mr Ratuvakalevulevu told the Fiji Sun yesterday that he had served the Fiji Corrections Service for 29 years. He has also served in institutions all across the country.

Mr Ratuvakelevulevu has also served under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan for a year in 2012-2013.

He hails from Macuata.
