It was a double celebration for married couple, Abhitesh Raj and Sherene Prasad, after they both graduated with Postgraduate Diplomas in Anesthesia and in Internal Medicine during the Fiji National University graduation in Suva yesterday.

Mr Raj also received the Special Award in Internal Medicine while his wife received the Medal for Outstanding Postgraduate Diploma in Anesthesia trainee for 2015.

The couple, who met in 2004 while they were first year medical students at FNU’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science, got married in 2011.

Mr Raj said: “We are extremely happy and proud to be able to complete our studies.

“I am proud of my wife for receiving the medal for Outstanding Postgraduate Diploma in Anesthesia trainee for 2015.

“I was really concerned about her because she is pregnant and she lives alone in Suva trying to complete her course,” he said.

Mrs Prasad said: “I am so happy and feel proud that I have finally graduated today.

“My husband has been really supportive of my education,” she said.

The couple will return to Lautoka today to celebrate with family members.
