The man who allegedly raped his six-year-old step daughter has been further remanded in custody by the Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday.

The 32-year-old is charged with a count of rape.

He was supposed to appear in the High Court in Lautoka for the first call, but was transferred to the Magistrates Court before Magistrate Raramasi Salakubou because of the unavailability of the High Court judge.

He is alleged to have committed the offence on the night of November 27 between 9.30pm to 1am at their residence.

The court heard that the accused is remanded at the Lautoka Corrections Centre.

Magistrate Salakubou granted an extension to the remand term and ruled that the case be transferred to the High Court when it will be called next Monday – December 14 for mention.
