Safety First For Fiji Airways: Viljoen

Fiji Airways chief executive officer and managing director, Andre Viljoen says the airline is extensively audited to ensure it maintains safety which cannot be compromised.
Speaking yesterday at the 17th Attorney-General’s Conference at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, Natadola, Mr Viljoen outlined the airline’s operations and its challenges.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) regularly audited Fiji Airways to ensure that the airline was complying with aviation rules.
The airline was also audited by international aviation authorities and professional associations, he said.
He said there might be duplications, but they were for a good reason.
He said the airline had internal standard operating systems and processes in place to control and manage risks and prevent accidents.
They included staff management, especially pilots and flight crews on long-haul flights, to ensure they have compulsory rest.
He said regular training and reviews were part of the programme. Edited by: Maikeli Seru
