Telecom Fiji signed a sponsorship deal with Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast Sevens chairman Jay Whyte on Thursday.

Mothilal De Silva, chief executive officer of Telecom Fiji, said the company was happy to sponsor the event which wil be held at Lawaqa Park on January 14-16..

“We are glad to come on board,” De Silva said.

“This will give an opportunity for both men and women to participate and get more exposure.

Whyte was grateful with the sponsorship.

“We’re now in our 6th year and we welcome TFL as they have been our partner for a few years,”Whyte said.

He said TFL will be providing live streaming of the games.

 “This sponsor is called the Tanoa sponsor and the sponsorship amount is $20,000 plus so it is very important,” he said.

Baileys Coral Coast sevens will be the first tournament hosted in the newly renovated Lawaqa Park with 16 men team and 16 women’s team participating.

FIJI Water has become the official bottled water of the Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast Sevens.

 

FIJI Water teams up

FIJI Water will supply the teams, match officials, VIPs, media and volunteers at the tournament.

“We are thrilled to have such a great brand support the tournament for the first time,” said Whyte.

 “The ‘champion of champions’ tournament is shaping up to be the best ever and we look forward to a long partnership with FIJI Water.

 “The support of FIJI Water will ensure the teams are performing to their potential at Lawaqa Park in January.”

 

History

FIJI Water, founded in 1996, is the number one imported bottled water in the United States and enjoyed in over 60 countries across the world.

 Whyte says the partnership between two premium brands is a great fit.

 “Sixteen men’s and 16 women’s teams will contest the tournament including defending champions Police and Uluinakau, Yamacia and Wardens, all winners of local qualifying tournaments,” he continued.

“The Aussie Thunderbolts and Aussie Pearls, both winners of the UON Central Coast Sevens, and Tabadamu, champions of the Samoan Independence Sevens, have also confirmed.

 “In addition, Germany, as part of their preparation for the final Olympic repechage, will make their first visit to Fiji, creating a true international event.”

 Rugby Sevens is included in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast Sevens will be the first major tournament staged in the Olympic year.
