Back to Way of Marist Brothers

It’s back to a famous past at the always influential Marist Brothers High School in Flagstaff, Suva.

A Marist Brother will be principal of the school after a long spell.

Whisper is this follows concern that the special Marist character which made MBHS so great has become lost in recent times.

This is with a low number of Catholic teachers there under the Education ministry appointment policies.

New Zealand Brother Terry Costello is now heading to Suva to head the school in the new school year.

Brother Terry brings impressive credentials.

He has been principal of two prominent Marist schools in New Zealand, St John’s (Hamilton) and St Bernard’s (Lower Hutt, Wellington), taught in the Pacific Islands and more recently was deputy leader of the brothers.

His teaching career began back in 1969 at another famous Marist school, Sacred Heart (Auckland).

Old boys of all faiths who recall the years of the 24/7 dedicated brothers in Flagstaff are said to be rejoicing.

So should everyone, given the many outstanding leaders of all faiths the brothers developed.
