Hector Smith believes Fiji Hockey is on track after the Fiji Invitational Series finished yesterday at the National Hockey Centre.

Smith said both the men’s and women’s teams have learnt a lot from the week- long tournament as it was a privilege to play against Australia and New Zealand teams.

“The week-long tournament has been excellent,”Smith said.

“We had some very tough competitions, we really learnt a lot.

“The women need a bit more physicality in the U21 group so that is something that we will work on.”

Though it has been a tough week of competitions, players enjoyed themselves.

“It’s been really good and positive and everyone enjoyed themselves. The competition has been really tough.”

“I would like to thank Fiji Sports Council for providing such good facilities.

“And the parents who supported their children and also to the teams from Australia and New Zealand who have been incredible.”

Results:

Women – Finals: Australian Country 1-6 New Zealand Presidents; 3rd and 4th: Fiji Presidents 7-1 Fiji Warriors

Men – Finals: Australian Country 3-2 New Zealand Presidents, 3rd and 4th: Fiji Presidents 6-0 Fiji Warriors.
