MHCC, well known as the ‘meeting point’ of central Suva, was abuzz yesterday as people from all walks of life joined in celebrating its eighth birthday.

Many took time out from their busy Saturday shopping and Christmas errands to enjoy the activities and entertainment that was provided at the celebration.

Among the crowd was Navitalai Navunicagi, who is from Naovalau in Rakiraki, spending his holidays with his family in Suva.

“I am really happy to be part of this celebrations and to experience what MHCC has to offer for us children; I got the chance to meet Father Christmas and get my face painted; the cake tasted really nice and I want to come back again. I love this place and its very beautiful; just like the big malls I see in the movies.”

The Naovalau District School student was accompanied by his aunt and cousins of Lagilagi Housing in Suva.

“I will go back home and tell my friends that I was part of MHCC eighth year birthday celebrations and also got the chance to meet Father Christmas; from now when I come to Suva.”

Biu Diani said: “My son was part of the construction team that laid out the tiles on these floors and to be part of this celebration is a privilege; they were excited when I told them that we were coming to be part of MHCC eighth year celebrations.

“My nephew came all the way from Rakiraki to be part of this occasion while spending the school break with us and he really enjoyed himself.”

The public were also treated to gifts and surprise giveaways as part of the celebration.
