Prem Singh of Yalalevu, Ba, is a machine operator at RC Manubhai and Company Limited in Ba, and also a part-time farmer.

He works hard to support his family, especially to give his two children good education.

Despite the financial difficulties he faced, Mr Singh this week will host a party at home to thank his only son, Prineel.

Prineel, 21, a student of the Fiji National University (FNU), graduated with a Certificate IV in Electrical and Engineering at the Vodafone Arena in Suva last Friday.

The Singhs left Ba at 3am last Friday to attend Prineel’s graduation.

“I am so happy and proud with my son’s achievement today,” Mr Singh said.

“I always pray to God to help and support my son with his education. He has fulfilled my wish and I will continue to support him.”

Prineel, on the other hand, thanked his dad for helping him succeed.

“I dedicated my achievement to my father Prem Singh for supporting me,” he said immediately after the graduation.

“Despite having financial problems, my father struggled and worked hard in his job and also on the farm to support my education,” he said.

“I am so happy that I have fulfilled my father’s dream because he always wanted to see me graduate.

Prineel joined FNU Ba Campus in 2013 after, completing his studies from Xavier College.

“I have worked really hard for three years to make my parents proud and happy.

“Without my father’s support, I would not have been here,” he said.
