People in Labasa can have a taste of local fruit cake at a very reasonable cost from Naidu’s Bakery at Jim Service Station.

The shop situated in Vulovi outside Labasa Town uses the same ingredients that the popular fruit cake (Golden Fruit Cake Lees brand and Mum’s Delight Fruit Cake) sold at various supermarkets contains.

Shop owner Yogendra Naidu started operating this business from August 2014 after finishes work as a sales rep at Ashabhai and Company Limited in Labasa.

He said the bakery operates 24 hours and seven days in a week.

“Initially the bakery belonged to Nazim Shah popularly known by many as Jim,” Mr Naidu said.

“That is why the fruit cake package carries Jim Bakery name on it.

My wife, Shalini Naidu and I are very grateful to continue with this business with the support of our baker, Rajendra Prasad.”

Mr Prasad prepares the mixture, bakes it and with some workers’ assistance he prepares the packing and displays it.

“For two weeks we have served so many people who pass by in their vehicles to visit our shopping centre,” Mr Naidu said.

He also operates the centre by the name Vulovi Shopping Centre which is situated beside the bakery.

Packed fruit cake cost is $6.99 and without package the price is $4.99.

“We will continue to sell fruit till the New Year spirit finishes off,” Mr Naidu said.

“We are very much happy to provide people the much waited Christmas fruit cake delight at affordable price with great taste,” Mr Naidu said.
