A boxing fan want to be refunded after the Boxing Commission of Fiji heavyweight title fight was cancelled.

This was after champion Petero Qica failed to turn up at Prince Charles Park in Nadi He was medically unfit to face Napoleon Taumoepeau.

Emosi Vimatemate paid $20 to watch what earlier billed as the ‘rumble of the year.’ fight.

“I came all the way from Sigatoka and it all came down to nothing,  a waste of time,” Vimatemate said.

The Naduri, Nadroga native said the promoters were responsible for this.

“The promoter of this fight would have known that there was no title fight and should have alerted the fans in advance.

“This is a waste of money.  I demand I should be refunded,” he said.

Wild West Boxing promoter Abdul Khana said he would donate some money to charity.

“I will be giving $1,700 to charitable organisations this week,” he said.

Khan clarified that he didn’t know anything about Qica’s withdrawal and request the public to be patient.

“I know the fans came to witness the main bout but we didn’t know about Qica’s injury until the very last minute.

“They produced a medical report which showed that he could not fight due to a muscle injury.”
