Frustrated Napoleon Taumoepeau says he should be awarded the Boxing Commission of Fiji heavyweight title.

This was after defending champion Petero Qica failed to turn up in the feature title fight of the Wild West Boxing Promotions at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi last Saturday.

“I don’t understand how he can remain champion of Fiji when he failed to turn up,” Taumoepeau said.

“He shouldn’t even be the champion since his last fight was in 2011.

“I’m the real champion and the title should be given to me.”

He said he didn’t expect Qica to pull out in the very last minute.

“I’ve been training hard and Qica pulling out in the very last minute is very unfortunate for  boxing and the fans.

“Why did he come to the weigh-in in the first place?

“He weighed 130kg and I don’t whether he actually trained for the title fight.”
