The Nadi Disabled Committee brought smiles to the faces of over 50 children with special needs by treating them to a Christmas lunch and presenting gifts at the Nadi Civic Centre yesterday.

Committe president Sushila Ramesh said they were honoured to bring smiles on the faces of special children during this season.

“We do this every year where we have special programmes during festive season and this is also a time for all the special children to get together and enjoy themselves.

“These children are busy throughout the year with school programmes so we thought to give them a time to have fun,” she said.

The committee also organised Christmas carols, games and gift sharing.

“We want to thank Jack’s of Fiji for sponsoring the gifts for these children as it really lit up their faces,” Ms Ramesh said.

The committee was formed in the late 1950’s to look after the needs of special children where they organise schools and programmes for the kids.

The non-governmental organisation (NGO) committee invited special children from the Nadi community for this special treat.

“It is great time to bond and reflect on the meaning of Christmas and we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year .

“Also a request to all members of the nation to share, forgive and bring smile on the face of needy people,” she said.

Meanwhile, Shivneel Pillay, 11, was delighted to receive gifts and thanked the committee for assisting and helping children with special needs.

“Christmas for me is about gifts and being happy,” Shivneel said.
