Borehole Commissioned On Waya

Villagers of Yalobi, Waya Island, Yasawa, were reminded to work hard and contribute to the development and improvement of their living standard.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Natural Disasters Management Office Misau Fasala challenged the villagers while commissioning the borehole in the village yesterday.
“This day marks a historical and significant achievement in the history of this place. What we have witnessed today is a direct reflection of what is stated in Chapter 2 of our Constitution, the Bill of Rights and that is the right to adequate food and water,” Ms Fasala said.
“Now that you are able to easily access water – a necessity for human survival – you are equipped to do even greater things for the sake of your children and their children’s future.
Take ownership
“The development and provision of necessary basic infrastructure such as water, electricity, health services and transport links, not only brings much elation and excitements, but provides empowerment to communities.
“This will raise the living standard and strengthen disaster risk resilience.
“We are able to provide well for our children’s basic needs as we are paving the way for their success. We therefore must capitalise on the achievements as we have witnessed here today.”
She said for the villagers to take ownership of their achievement.
“You have an obligation to teach your children the proper use and care for these most valuable resources. Change your mind set to learn that we cannot expect a better future for our children if we cannot teach them the basic facts of life today,” she said.
