Kable Earns Quota For Rio Olympics

Shooter Glen Cable is close to qualifying for Olympic Games in Rio next year.
This was after he secured a quota at the recent Continental Oceania Shooting Championship in Australia which was held in Sydney last month.
Fiji Shooting president Jitendra Mohan said Glen managed to secure a quota which meant that he has secured a place for Team Fiji shooting after he was placed second in his event.
“What this basically means is that he has earned a placed for Fiji, and right now he is the most likely to take up that quota,” he said.
With lack of funds the association was unable to send a team of shooters to compete, which may have earned them more quotas.
“There were teams from five different Oceania countries including Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
“Australia had a team which had a clean sweep and will be represented in all shooting events.”
Mohan said Glen needed a lot of training and was very focused on getting the quota available for him and for Fiji.
The former World Cup winner has never won a medal after representing Fiji at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
Mohan also confirmed Glen has opted to train in Australia because of lack of facilities in Fiji.
