KOICA Ready to Open Office Here

Relations between the Fijian Government and the government of the Republic of Korea will be further enhanced with the opening of the Korea International Co-operation Agency – KOICA Pacific office in Suva next year.

Korea’s Ambassador to Fiji, Seong-in Kim said the KOICA Pacific office will be opened in March 2016.

Mr Kim said that the opening of the KOICA Pacific office in Suva was indicative of the close relations that Korea had with Fiji since establishing relations in 1971.

“Fiji is a very good friend and bilateral partner for Korea. We have always enjoyed cordial relations with the Fijian Government and the people of Fiji,” Mr Kim said.

“The opening of the KOICA office in Suva that will look after the Pacific region is another example of our commitment towards the Pacific and in particular Fiji.”

Trade between Fiji and Korea is growing steadily and Ambassador Kim says the opening of the KOICA office would elevate its relations with Fiji to a new level.

“There is potential for Fijian products to be sold in Korea and we have also seen an increase of Korean companies investing in Fiji,” Mr Kim said.

Fiji’s Ambassador to Korea Filimone Kau said the opening of KOICA’s office in Suva was indictive of Korea’s strong relations with Fiji and its desire to strengthen its relations and presence in Fiji and the Pacific.
