Boost for Ex-Servicemen

A boost for members of the Ex-Servicemen’s Association was received this week from Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation.
The Foundation handed over mobility devices – wheelchairs, walking canes, walking aids and crutches – worth about $5000 to help members of the association.
The assistance was facilitated through the Spinal Injuries Association and was received by the Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports, Iliesa Delana.
In handing over the devices, Vodafone Fiji acting chief executive officer, Shailendra Prasad said: “These men and women have fought in different parts of the world to ensure that our children and families are safe from wars and atrocities”.
“They have sacrificed and suffered so that the current generation has greater freedom and safety.”
Mr Prasad said many of the ex-servicemen were getting old and they needed assistance.
“It is our moral responsibility to stand by them. The Vodafone ATH Foundation is therefore pleased to lend a helping hand to aging ex-servicemen to move freely and enjoy the freedom of life. We wish them a very merry festive season,” he said. Edited by Maikeli Seru
