The Cawanibuka siblings, Moape Cawanibuka and Bulou Jojiana Cawanibuka, from Tavuki in Kadavu could only wish their late mother, Meliki Cawanibuka, was around to witness their graduation as regular Police officers yesterday. The siblings’ mother died in 2012.

“We only wish our mother was still alive to see us graduate. We are here because of her struggles and the difficulties she went through while raising us,” an emotional Ms Cawanibuka said.

They dedicated their achievement to their late mother, and father Joeli Cawanibuka who witnessed their graduation.

Mr Cawanibuka said he was grateful that he was able to gain more knowledge about his work during the four months basic recruitment training.

The siblings were among 111 Police special constables who graduated as regular Police officers from the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova, Suva yesterday.

Mr Cawanibuka is the well-known entertainer in the Fiji Police Band. He joined the force nine years ago while his sister has been in the force for the past seven years. Bulou Jojiana said she was proud to have graduated alongside her brother.
