Sharing The Christmas Spirit

Members of the Moala Methodist Church Sunday School in Samabula shared the Christmas spirit after they visited the Colonial War Memorial Hospital Children’s ward yesterday.

Patients witnessed various gospel action chorus performances and Christmas carols which brought a sense of joy to the young children admitted at the children’s ward.

For 13 –year –old Talei Tagilala who also was admitted at the ward said she enjoyed the action chorus performances.

“I am really happy to see children my age coming to perform gospel action songs; it feels like we are in church with the atmosphere they have brought to us.

“Most of us will not be spending Christmas with our family with the situation we are in and I want to thank the church for remembering us; may God bless them,” she said.

Moala Methodist Church Sunday school teacher and organiser, Titilia Tonawai said the idea was to take the true meaning of Christmas to children who are sick.

“It is a blessing to see these children smiling especially when most of them will not be able to spend Christmas with their family this year and as Christians  we wanted to include them in our church programmes too.”

She said it seemed like children were left astray with the meaning of Christmas because of the way it had been portrayed in the media.

“A cake was also baked for them, on it was written ‘Jesus is King’ and not ‘Merry Christmas’ because they should know that the true meaning of Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ,” Ms Tonawai said.
