The fight is on for the presidency of the 71st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Fiji’s nominee and permanent representative to the United Nations Peter Thomson said this would be a tough fight.
Mr Thomson is one of the candidates for the position.
“The fight for the top UNGA post for 2016 and 2017 is between Fiji and Cyprus,” he said.
Mr Thompson said he was the nominee for the Asia-Pacific Group.
