Swire Shipping is going to become the only multipurpose liner operator to connect mainland China to the South Pacific. This is going to take place when Swire Shipping enhance its North Asia to Pacific service from January, next year.

Swire Shipping’s general manager for liner trades Jeremy Sutton said the Pacific Rim is a key market to them.

“With the additional port calls, we are now the only multipurpose liner operator connecting China to the South Pacific,” Mr Sutton said.

“We will be boosting our services by increasing our carrying capacity for both breakbulk and containerised cargo.”

Mr Sutton said the upgraded service connects mainland China to the South Pacific with direct port calls to Suva and Lautoka. In addition, it offers fast transit time to the South Pacific ports of Majuro, Tarawa, Pagopago, Apia, Nuku’alofa and Santo,

“To complement the service, Swire Shipping will be increasing the carrying capacity on these routes to cater to breakbulk, project and containerised cargo,” Mr Sutton pointed out.

The enhanced port rotation will include direct calls to Qingdao (China) and Nuku’alofa (Tonga), Yokohama (Japan), Majuro (Marshall Islands), Tarawa (Kiribati), Pago Pago (American Samoa), Apia (Samoa), Suva, Lautoka, Santo (Vanuatu), Honiara (Solomon Islands), and Shimizu (Japan).
