Torrential rain experienced in the Central Division in the past few days have seen a number of crossings and bridges closed because of flooding.

As of 4pm yesterday, the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) reported that crossings, bridges and some roads close to its Naqali, Taunovo and Korovou depots were closed.

At Taunovo, the Namosi Road was closed following a landslide and its crossing at Namado was washed out, the FRA situation report stated. This will remain closed until slip is cleared and the crossing repaired.

At Naqali, the Nabena, Vatuwaqa, Matainasau and Naiuvucini crossing were flooded.

The FRA team are on the ground assessing priority areas and cleaning crews have been dispatched.

The Nadi weather Office report last night predicts more rain enforced for Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

A flood alert is in force for all low-lying areas adjacent to the Nabukaluka Station and downstream of the Waidina River.
