Nursing station
Amenatave Yaconisau
Suva
I thank the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Jone Usamate, for opening the Nayavu-i-Ra Nursing Station in the district of Navitilevu in the Nakorotubu coast in Ra.
This will certainly improve the quality of life and reduce transportation cost in the district of Navitilevu.
The Nakorotubu coast has a population of more than 6000 inhabitants living between the villages of Navuni-ivi and Bureiwai/ Naivoco on the Tailevu side, and basically lives a daily subsistence life on dalo, cassava, yaqona and fish.
It’s a matter of celebration the ministry is planning to increase access to basic medical services in Fiji.
Medical service in this region has been provided solely from the Namarai dispensary staffed by a district nurse and occasionally a medical assistant.
The coast use to have the service of a medical assistant and dental therapist before.
Life expectancy at birth and mortality rates has not been encouraging at all as people travel long distances to Rakiraki, Korovou or Navunibitu (Saivou) for services.
Serious injuries, sickness, or breach birth that require immediate specialised medical attention sometimes eventuate in unnecessary death because of the absence of ambulance at Namarai dispensary.
People who can afford to keep their dead relatives in the Korovou or Rakiraki Mortuary can afford a dignified one week funeral otherwise as short as one day for good reasons.
A mortuary to preserve dead relatives in this region will greatly reduce costs to relatives and of course the dignity of the event itself.
These improvements in human health can lead to landowners offering their land for future national development. Vinaka vakalevu

There are acres of available land past the old Labasa Bridge.
If someone wants to build a hotel please come and look at this site. You might have to raise the foundation a couple of feet though.
The area has electricity and Damodar City is being constructed here too.
The reason for writing this is so we can have our old Jaycees Park back.
This area was known as Long Bay and the hotel owner can use this name if can’t find a better one.

The A-G and PM, both in many forums, have assured foreign investors speedy registration process while avoiding series of time-wasting referrals that prevailed before.
Four-week time limit assured for all processes. Very timely and progressive efforts!
However, I just discovered now that registering a simple business name takes four weeks.
How would an investor accomplish seven other agencies requirements within the timeframe officially stipulated?

Suva has been blessed with rain since the weekend.
If only the Western and Northern divisions could receive some share of this rain.
Will it be a wet Christmas and New Year for the West and North?
The answer is anyone’s guess but one can be rest assured of lots of partying and merry making, regardless of the weather.
Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!
Remember Jesus was born in a barn on a cold winter night.
His parents were refugees. They had nothing.
Maybe now you’ll get the hint.
