Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto tells new recruits

Military values are more than just words, says Republic of the Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) acting Commander, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto.

He made the statement while addressing 212 recruits during their Basic Recruit Passing-out Parade at the Forces Training Group (FTG) at Nasinu yesterday.

“You must remember that the military values you have learned are more than just words. You must believe in them and live by them,” Rear Admiral Naupoto said.

Those who graduated after 12 weeks of intensive basic soldiering training were 199 men and 13 women.

Rear Admiral Naupoto said the new skills and military values would form the foundation of the new soldiers’ military career.

“This is the same foundation that has propelled people just like you to positions of presidents, prime ministers, ministers, CEOs and other senior positions in both the public and private sector.

“You have been moulded through the 12 weeks of training into a person that is better prepared and morally equipped to face the challenge of life that lie ahead of you.”  He also highlighted the RFMF zero-tolerance policy on violence against women and children.

“If any member of the RFMF commits an offence that violates this policy, that person will be discharged from the RFMF,” he stressed.
