Ra Sedition Accused Home For Christmas

The 21 accused persons from Ra charged with sedition related charges will be home for Christmas.
This is after they were granted bail by Justice Thushara Rajasinghe at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.
They were represented by lawyer Mark Anthony
The group is charged with one count of sedition contrary to section 67 (1) (a) and one count of urging political violence contrary to section 65 (1) (b) of the Crimes Decree 2009.
Justice Rajasinghe granted bail for the group with a bail bond of $1000 each.
The accused, 20 men and one woman (Naiyo), were to provide two sureties each and the sureties are required to pay $1000, for the accused to live in their current residential address, not to travel outside Viti Levu, not to speak to more than three people except family members and not to contact State witnesses or hold meetings.
The court heard that the State Prosecutor would need to produce a report to the court regarding the progress on the adherence of bail conditions for all the accused.
Justice Rajasinghe ruled for the full 44 Ra sedition charged accused persons to appear on January 18, 2016.
