Oprah Holidaying On Laucala Island

American celebrity talkshow host and media icon Oprah Winfrey is holidaying on Laucala Island with family and close friends.
The 61-year-old arrived on the island earlier this week.
She is here with her best friend Gayle King, Selma actor David Olyelowo and the film’s director, Ava DuVernay.
Oprah’s partner of 30 years, Stedman Graham is also with the group.
A photo on Ms King’s Instagram showed the group wearing sarong.
She posted: “What’s that expression??? When in Rome do as the …. New outfits for the cultural celebration.”
In another similar shot Ms King said: “You know what is great about a sarong? It works on all body types!
The greene-winfrey-graham-king-bumpus-oyelowo-posse say yaaaaay!”
A former Laucala Island employee was able to identify staff members of the resort from a photo on Ms King’s Instagram.
Ms King had posted: “You know it’s vacation when… You get off the plane & a guy greets you with coconuts &people sing a welcome song! Ahhhhhh…”
The “guy with coconuts” is Vilitati Tuisorisori. He is a Food and Beverage staff on the island.
Another staff member who got special mention on Ms King’s Instagram was “Dau.” This was after she went out for a hike in the woods with Urania Greene, wife of Oprah’s fitness guru, Bob Greene.
“An hour plus later success I see why there is a cross at the top! I asked Dau the guide for a piggy back ride down.. He said m’am how much do you weigh? Uhhhh ….::”
Comments that followed the post included the following: “LOL! Please tell Dau…it’s none of his business how much you weigh!@gayleking” and “He obviously don’t follow u on insty or he’d know.”
This is not the first time Oprah has chosen Laucala Island as her vacation destination.
She was there with Mr Graham in 2010. It was reported that they paid for the $26,000-a-night villa during their stay. Of course, this is peanuts for someone whose net worth is over three billion dollars.
This time around Oprah and her group of friends are renting out the Peninsula Villa.
It has been described as “an “island on an island”, caressed by the dazzling turquoise waters of the South Pacific and surrounded by opulent green hills, a white beach and plenty of space for privacy.
The island website says: “The spacious living areas are connected to each other by rope bridges offering spectacular views.
This exclusive privacy is actually the genuine Laucala luxury, the seductive icing on the cake of the Peninsula Residence.”
Oprah and her group of friends are expected to check out of Laucala Island today. She had stopped over in Australia and New Zealand on her way here.
