Aviation Our big, New Airbus Heading For Nadi Touchdown

Our national airline’s newest addition to its fleet will be arriving home this Tuesday.

Fiji Airways’ new Airbus A330-343 is scheduled to touch down at 10am with the President Jioji Konousi Konrote and his wife Sarote Konrote on board the inaugural ferry flight.

The aircraft has already departed Toulouse, France where it was built and assembled. It is currently in Hong Kong.

After this brief stopover in Hong Kong, the President and his wife will get onboard and the flight will then depart tomorrow for Fiji.

A welcome ceremony has been organised at the Fiji Airways Hangar at the Nadi International Airport.

The aircraft is expected to fly in from the North West so the people living on Rotuma, in the Yasawas and the Mamanucas will be able to see the plane probably after 8am on Tuesday.

The flyover is dependent on weather conditions and other factors.

Aircraft details

The Airbus A330-300 is similar to an A330-200 which Fiji Airways has three of in their fleet.

But the A330-300 is a more stretched version and has 40 more seats and carries 33 per cent more cargo.

The new aircraft has enhanced interior with mood lighting. A quiet zone has been created for economy class which is considered a premium section and where there will be no children.
