Miliana Aims To Be Like Afa

Miliana Rusivakula aims to be like her sister in representing Fiji in netball.

This was after she had a flawless performance during the Grasshoppers/Intersport Global International Netball Festival earlier this month.

The younger sister of Fijian Pearls rep Afa Rusivakula, Miliana, is a member of the extended squad that is training for the World Youth Netball Cup in 2017 in Botswana, South Africa.

Playing for the Lomaiviti Lautoka team, they reached the final in the Open grade but went down 24-18 to Grasshoppers Divas which was dominated by Fijian Pearls players.

“I really enjoyed the two days playing something that I love and that I am passionate about,” Rusivakula said.

“Playing against the Fijian Pearls as well was really fun and a huge learning curve for me; I got to experience the intensity that I would not normally experience if I was playing against a different team.

“They had the experience and it really showed but this has also improved me as a player especially when my goal is to get into the World Youth Netball Cup team.

“I am happy with the way I played, I love this game and when I am on the court I play with so much confidence but I also don’t forget to have fun.

“I’m so grateful to be involved because not only have I met a lot of friends and learned new things, I have improved as a player.

“I will be taking what I have learned back to Lautoka and I hope to be like my sister and represent my country proudly.”
