Ministry To Up Level Of Comfort

Akbar says they will improve on caregiving, diet and recreation
The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar, says they will increase level of comfort for our senior citizens in 2016.
She made these remarks while spending her Boxing Day holiday with the residents of Natabua Golden Age Home in Lautoka.
“The ministry will carry out major renovation works to increase the level of comfort provided to the senior citizens at these homes,” she said.
“The plans are to uplift the levels of comfort with equipment they might need. At this age they need the love from the families which they don’t get,” Ms Akbar said.
She also said they would improve the levels of caregiving, diet and recreation within the homes.
“The equipment they most need are wheelchairs therefore we need to ensure that their buildings are wheelchair-accessible. We also need to ensure that their health is given priority so that we don’t have situations like amputations,” Ms Akbar said.
“Taking over the Babasiga Ashram, Samabula Senior Citizen’s Home and Natabua Golden Age Home will not be a challenge. I think it will be a blessing working for these homes and I have good support from my staff as well,” she said.
