Man Pleads Guilty To Drunk And Disorderly Charges

A man charged with a count of being drunk and disorderly and resisting Police arrest yesterday pleaded guilty to both charges.

Malakai Mira appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza in a special court sitting at the Nasinu Magistrates Court in Valelevu, Nasinu yesterday.

The court heard that on Christmas Day, Mira was drunk and disorderly along Cunningham Road. When Police arrested him, he refused arrest by jumping off the Police vehicle.

The charges were read out to him in court and he indicated he understood them.

Police Prosecution confirmed that full disclosures have been served. They did not object to bail however they requested for two suitable sureties with a surety bond of $200 each.

The accused has asked for more time to look for sureties.

The case will be called again today for the accused to provide his sureties.
