Qarani Celebrates New Church

It was a double Christmas celebration for villagers of Qarani Village in Gau as they witnessed the opening of their new church building.

The dedication and opening of the new Efiraca Methodist Church building was conducted by Reverend Eroni Kaibau.

Qarani villager, Marika Bulimaibau said the cost of the newly built village church was around $120,000.

“The church construction started in 2009 and it was through kind donations and fundraisings held by the villagers,”Mr Bulimaibau said.

“We acknowledge the support of villagers of Qarani who are in Fiji and also abroad who have assisted in the building of our church.

Mr Bulimaibau added that villagers said they were proud to witness the fruition of a wish their forefathers had for a very long time.

Rugby 7s legend and former player-coach of the Fijian national 7s team Waisale Serevi is a native of Qarani village.
