$650K For Lautoka Zhonghua School

Lautoka Zhonghua School received a financial boost after a delegation from China donated $650,000 to the school during their visit earlier in November.
The delegation included Madame Lou Han Ping, who is the principal of Shuiguohu Secondary Primary School in China, who officially handed over the donation to the school.
Lautoka Zhonghua School Board member Mun Fong said the donation would benefit the school immensely.
“The donation will be used to improve the infrastructure in the school, especially to replace old chairs and desks,” she said.
“Also this will help maintain the school hall, purchase new projectors and equip the school with a sound system.”
During the handover, Madame Lou Han Ping reaffirmed their commitment to firmly support the development of Lautoka Zhonghua School.
She said the partnership included the Chinese teachers being stationed in Fiji to help local students with Mandarin music, art and sport.
The Hubei Provincial Department of Education from China had initially donated 10 Lenovo brand Thinkpad laptops, and story books to the Lautoka Zhonghua school earlier in August. That was the first delegation who had visited the school this year
Lautoka Zhonghua School was built in the year 1946 and is managed by the Chinese Community.
The school was initially called Lautoka Chinese School but later changed its name two years ago because of the Ministry of Education’s directive.
