Organisers of the Labasa New Year Street Party are busy with with preparation in welcoming the New Year from 8.30 tonight.

The street party will be held in front of the RB Patel Supermarket in Labasa Town.

Labasa Street Party Committee Chairman Shalendra Chand confirmed the street party’s theme is; ‘Our North, Our Pride’.

“The theme is related to how proud we northerners are of the recent developments and achievements progressing in the North due to the Government’s Look North policy,” Mr Chand said.

He said committee members participating in the street party are also volunteers.

“We have a very strong and beneficial support from the Fiji Police Force and the Labasa Chamber of Commerce apart from the local sponsors.

“There will be entertainment, food stalls and prize give-aways available and I encourage the public to come down with their friends and families to enjoy this event,” he said.

The first and second street party did not have a good turnout compared to last year which was very successful and they are expecting a bigger and better turnout tonight.

Mr Chand added the street party would be a zero alcohol zone.
