Former Chief Justice, Sir Timoci Uluiburotu Tuivaga has died, aged 84.

Sir Timoci, who was from Matuku in the Lau group, passed away at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa yesterday afternoon.

Fiji Golf Club professional Veramu Rokotavaga confirmed Sir Tuivaga collapsed while practising for a tournament at Pacific Harbour Mr Rokotavaga said that Republic of Fiji Military Forces acting Commander, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, who was also present at the golf course, tried resuscitating Sir Timoci but was unsuccessful.

Sir Tuivaga served as Chief Justice from March 31, 1980 to July 31, 2002.

He was also Fiji’s first native- born to head the Fijian judiciary.

Sir Tuivaga is survived by his wife, Raijeli and five children.
