Mauna Tul Islam Association president Mohammed Yusuf Manu said they are planning to expand their Muslim-based schools in Lautoka and Ba.

This comes after their discussions with Sheikh Aboobacker Ahmed from India yesterday.

Mr Ahmed is an Islamic scholar who travels around world to establish value-oriented and professional religious education. He wants to help the Islamic believers here in Fiji.

Mr Manu said the expansion of the two schools; the Isha-Athul Islam Academy in Lautoka and the Maururu Mosque in Ba would be of great boost for them.

“We want these two schools to be expanded to cater for more children,” he said.

“We also want them to broaden their knowledge and know more about their tradition, culture and most of all their religion.”

He also said the centres would only cater for Muslims and not any other.

“We are getting old and we the elders won’t live forever. So this is a great platform where our children can be taught the core values of our beliefs and carry on with it.”
