The Fiji Sugar Corporation will be conducting a review to determine how the prolonged dry season has affected the sugarcane production outcome.

Executive chairman Abdul Khan said they will do a review after the festive season.

“We will conduct a review to determine how the dry season has affected the sugar outcome, if it has affected by any percent or if it has not affected the outcome at all,” he said.

“We had some decent rain for the past few weeks from whatever we thought; we will find it out after the review.”

Upgrade of mills

In regards to upgrading of the sugar mills, Mr Khan said they are looking at some programmes/ plans at the moment.

“Nothing has been finalised as of yet for the upgrade of the four mills as talks are still in progress,” he said.

Crushing season 2016

The dates for the new crushing season are yet to be finalised.

Mr Khan said they are still yet to determine the size of the crop yield for 2016 and the dates will be announced soon.
