One Dead After Truck Plunge

It was not a happy day for Peni Cula and his family after he learned that his  brother-in-law, Malakai Kidavakia, died in an accident.

The incident happened on Wednesday night after the carrier they were travelling in veered off the road along Tovata Road in Makoi while returning from work at the Tovata Farm.

There were 12 people inside the carrier.

Peni said: “Malakai (Tamai Siteri) left the village on Tuesday to come and work so he could support his daughter’s education next year.

“Malakai was a nice man, always cheerful and works really hard without any complaints; He was to return to the village today as planned but now he lay silently which breaks our heart.”

Malakai is survived by his wife and three children –Siteri, 6, Tulia, 3, and Emoni, 1.

According to FBC News Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri is urging motorists to be extra vigilant since the roads would be busy during this period.
