Vodafone Is Well Positioned To Deliver Another Good Year

In a flash, 2015 is over as we welcome 2016. We hope the festive season has been a safe and enjoyable one for everyone.

We at Vodafone Fiji take this time to thank you for your loyalty and continued patronage to Vodafone network. 2015 has been a generally been a good year all round for the company.

As we form our new year resolutions , business objectives and targets, it’s a good time reflect on and take stock of how 2015 has been and what the year may hold for us.

First, a quick look back at 2015.
For Vodafone Fiji, 2015 was quite an eventful and highly successful year. Vodafone Fiji completed its first year as a 100% locally owned entity and delivered the best financial results to its shareholders in its 21 years of operation in the country.

Hundred percent of the profits were retained locally with record dividend payments made to FNPF and the ATH Group as major shareholders of Vodafone Fiji.

Dividends to FNPF would flow back to it’s the working people of Fiji in the form of return on investment on their FNPF deductions.

Operational side
On the business front, Vodafone expanded its 3G to 95% and 4G to 65% of Fiji population giving its customers greater access and unparalleled speeds in broadband data.

Vodafone Fiji network also recognized by Ookla an independent network rating agency as the fastest network, fastest 4G network and fastest internet service provider in the country.

These are achievement that the company is truly proud. It gives our customers an unbiased and independent assessment and seal of confidence of our network quality and speeds.

Vodafone is clearly the market leader in this space.

On our product and services front, we are able to expand on our suite of products across all areas of business.

One the corporate front, cloud based services has been highly popular and is in great demand.

On the prepaid front, the appetite for mobile internet with increased smart phones is major growth are for the business.

Vodafone has been able to offer a number of tailored plans and data packages to suite the individual needs of every consumer.

Vodafone Fiji also acquired DATEC the largest IT Company in the country to better position itself in the new growth areas and the convergence of ICT Sector.

It also expanded offshore to manage the operation of ATH Kiribati Limited on behalf of the ATH Group.

On the sponsorship front, the Vodafone 7’s team won the World Rugby 7’s Series after a lapse of 10 years and in the process qualified for the RIO Olympics.

The team is amongst the favorites to win the first ever Olympic Gold for Fiji. The Vodafone U20 Soccer side qualified and went on to play at the FIFA U20 World Cup delivering a credible performance for the company.

The U23 Soccer side has also qualified to play at the RIO Olympics. We are proud to support various sports in country and deliver such winning performances that bring the nation together.

We also supported the various municipals festivals around the country that helped raised funds for a number of community projects around the country.

For the first time, we introduced the concept of Christmas in the Park concept to Fiji at the My Suva Park in partnership with SCC.
The citizens and visitors to Suva enjoyed and appreciated a memorable Christmas in the Park celebrations. Feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive and look forward to build on this next year.

Capping the year
To cap of the year, Vodafone was able to pass on the benefit of the reduced VAT with a reduction in its tariffs of between 6-9%.

The rate reductions came into effect yesterday,- a day earlier than expected. This to give our customers a good new year celebrations as they call families and loved ones to wish them well for the new year.

Our corporate Philanthropy arm, The Vodafone ATH Foundation continues the good work it has been doing over the years in making positive societal changes through charitable, mobile for social good and world of difference programs by engaging with likeminded individual and partners.

The Foundation ended the year with the delivery of another container load of assistive mobility devices and other items worth $1.2 million dollars to assist those in needs.

For the first time, we were also able to bring is with help of overseas partners Physionet, prosthetic limbs worth in excess of half a million dollar to assist those who may have lost a limb to live and more decent and productive life.

Looking ahead
2016 will bring its own challenges and opportunities. Vodafone is well positioned to deliver another good year in ICT services to the people of Fiji.
