Tomasi Waimuka allegedly hit his brother with timber causing his death after a drinking party argument

A 33-year-old farmer of Delaivuna in Taveuni is expected to appear at the Labasa Magistrates Court this week after being charged with one count of murder.

Tomasi Waimuka is currently in custody at the Taveuni Police Station.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said he would be transferred to the Labasa Magistrates Court once it was safe to travel by sea.

It is alleged that on December 26 last year, after a drinking party at Navaca in Taveuni, Waimuka allegedly hit his brother, Vilimone Waqa, with a piece of timber several times after his brother allegedly woke up his one-year-old-baby.

Mr Waqa was rushed to the Waiyevo Health Center and was referred to the Labasa Hospital. He was then airlifted to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva where he died. Edited by Manasa Kalouniviti
