Taxi Driver Released On Bail

Sailosi Mara is charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident.
A taxi driver, charged in relation to the death of a 22-year-old man along Laucala Beach in Suva last month, was granted bail by the Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday.
Sailosi Mara is charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of failing to comply with requirements after an accident.
He appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele yesterday.
It is alleged that on December 26 the past year, Mara was driving a taxi along Ratu Dovi Road when it allegedly hit Maika Delai resulting in his death.
Magistrate Ratakele granted Mara bail on a cash bond of $800 and a surety bond of $1000 each to his sureties. He was required to get two sureties.
He was also ordered to report to the nearest Police station between 8am to 6pm every Monday.
The case has been adjourned to January 27.
