Nadi Blazers Promise To Defy Odds

The Nadi Blazers women, who made their debut last year, have promised to improve their performance when the Bayley’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens starts next Thursday.
Nadi Blazers are in pool S alongside Central Chiefs, Mystic Knights and Telecom Fijiana.
The tournament at Lawaqa, Sigatoka, has attracted a mix of local and overseas sides.
Club president Lailanie Burnes said they have worked hard to bring their game up to another level.
“Our team has been in camp since last week and has been training hard since our return from the Central Coast Sevens in Australia late last year,” she said.
She added the final trials for the team will be held this Saturday in Nadi.
“We are certain that the team who will take the field will bring forth experience, discipline and passion with many of our players having played together for a number of years.”
It has been a great year Blazers with two international tours to New Caledonia, (Kone International 7s) and the Central Coast 7s (Australia).
On the local front the team had won all Nadi Rugby Union club games and was placed first runners up at the Nawaka 7s.
“With this being said 2016 is a new year and we look forward to this being our most successful year yet, representing the Western division and our sponsors.”
The side are coached by Ratu Viliame Salele, with a dedicated management, large supportive network of both sponsors Radisson Blu, Selva’s Taxi’s and Tours, PTS, and the Nadi Rugby Union.
“All this have been invaluable to the team, of which, we plan on making them proud of what we will achieve at the Coral Coast 7s,” Burnes said. Edited by Anasilini Ratuva
