Vodafone Fiji, and the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) yesterday launched the 2016 Rugby Calendar in style in Suva.

The special calendar which was launched at the Vodafone Triangle is a collector’s item as well as a tribute to the 7s players and features each of the players alongside coach Ben Ryan on each of the month.

Vodafone Fiji acting chief executive officer Divik Deo said this was their way of pitching in to help the Fijian 7s team in their preparation for the Rio Olympics.

“We know that this is no ordinary year for the 7s side. There is great expectation and demand from the fans for the team to deliver.

“But the team alone cannot do it without all our support. In particular to meet the obligations in the World Sevens Series and still be able to send a full strength tea, to represent Fiji at the Olympic Games and this requires additional resources and support to make it happen,” Deo said.

Meanwhile, FRU acting chief executive officer Dr Berlin Kafoa said: “We thank Vodafone for their continued sponsorship and support for the Fijian rugby team and this added initiative by Vodafone to help our 7s boys to the upcoming Rio Olympics.

“This is one of the ways in which you can contribute in purchasing a calendar and supporting your team,” Dr Kafoa said.

The calendars will be available in major towns in the coming days. The calendars cost $10 with $5 going towards the Vodafone Fijian 7s team fundraising drive.
