With the Fiji Rugby Union and Vodafone Fiji launching the 2016 Rugby Calendar at the Vodafone Triangle yesterday, it was a special holiday treat for Japanese national Toru Ikegai.

Ikegai who is from Tokyo, Japan is currently in the country on holiday and struck his luck when he found out that Vodafone Fijian 7s players Captain Osea Kolinisau, Savenaca Rawaca, Isake Katonibau and Emosi Mulevoro would be signing the calendars and meeting the fans.

The 44-year-old who works for Rugby Magazine Japan as a graphic designer spent $60 as he bought six calendars in support of the 7s team.

“I was lucky to see the event when I came into town for shopping without knowing that the team would be here meeting fans.

“I am a huge fan of Fiji Rugby and I feel so honoured to meet them in person and shake their hands and take pictures with them. When I found out that they were selling calendars in aid of the team’s preparation for the series and Rio Olympics, I had to buy some and I bought six,” Ikegai said.
